Azealia Banks escalates Twitter war with new track, ‘Succubi’

Azealia Banks dropped a new track this weekend, “Succubi,” a sonic escalation of a Twitter war she started with fellow Harlem rapper Jim James. The basic beef is something like a turf war over the term “vampire”—both rappers seem to think they’re the rightful owner of the term, with Banks insisting her own “vamping” predates James’ 2011 mixtape “Vampire Life.” You can read all the gritty back-and-forth details at MTV if you want, but suffice it to say it’s your basic she-said he-said histrionics.

Anyway, the track it produced is pretty sweet, regardless of the backstory. It’s a slow, dark creeper. Take a listen below.
