Jason Mecier, the meat artist commissioned to make a Sasquatch out of 80 bags of Jack Link’s Beef Jerky earlier this year, has moved onto more topical portrait subjects, namely, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
The below video, “The Making of Barack Obameat & Meat Romney,” shows the artist at work, hot gluing dehydrated meat of various shades to canvases and making as many awkward meat puns as he can fit into 2:08.
According to Laughing Squid, Mecier used a variety of flavors, including “Jack Link’s Original Beef Jerky, Jack Link’s Turkey Jerky, Jack Link’s Sweet & Hot Beef Jerky, Jack Link’s Original Smokehouse Beef Jerky and more to build each savory salute to the year’s biggest race.”
I’m not quite sure if having your likeness portrayed in meat is an honor or an insult, but Mercier did quite an accurate job with both their heads. Whoever wins may want to consider using it as their official portrait in the White House gallery.
