Bloomberg is reporting today that a new study from Pew Research shows Americans admire rich people, but think they are greedy, unethical bastards. (Seems like a contradiction, but I guess it makes sense—cultivating not only wealth but immunity from giving a crap about wealth inequality is truly livin’ the dream.)
55% of Americans view the rich as greedy, and 58% say their tax rates are too low. Asked if they would want to be included in this category, Americans emphatically answered hell yes.
Are we just jealous? Is it just in our minds, or are rich people really out there taking candy from poor children, cheating on their wives and cutting off pedestrians at inersections?
