There’s a report coming in saying Mitt Romney will deplete arts funding in 2013 if elected. In an apparent interview leak with Fortune magazine, Mitt says:
(First) there are programs I would eliminate. Obamacare being one of them but also various subsidy programs — the Amtrak subsidy, the PBS subsidy, the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities. Some of these things, like those endowment efforts and PBS I very much appreciate and like what they do in many cases, but I just think they have to stand on their own rather than receiving money borrowed from other countries, as our government does on their behalf.
This means that Mitt will undo PBS as we know it. Undoing Obamacare is one thing (and a very bad thing, America being THE ONLY first-world nation that bankrupts the ill for being ill), but undoing subsidy programs (such as PBS) essentially means that Mitt will bastardize learning on a national scale, the full effects of which will not be felt for a while.
Also: pulling funding for Amtrak and making rail travel obsolete? That’s some Scrooge McDuck shit. So not only does Mitt want to A) kill off “Sesame Street” and Carl Sagan but B) to keep Americans from traveling? Is he nuts? The answer is yes.
Sadly, if he’s elected, it’ll be a world that you or I may have to become more familiar with as time goes on. Or you could just rent the movie “Idiocracy” and we could laugh/cry about it together:

Kind of pathetic considering that Mitt has a distant great uncle who was a well-known English oil portrait painter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Romney_(painter) but yeah, death to the arts, death to taxes, death to seniors, and death to America! Long live Rommunism!

It doesn't say he will close them, just that they shouldn't be recieving money from government programs. I disagree with cutting PBS funding, but Amtrack? Why are they recieving gov. funds in the first place??
