Learn to cook, with holograms

Man do I love it when the Japanese invent some crazy new futuristic technology.

Today we get a demonstration from the Tokyo Institute of Technology that uses the full force of technological innovation and hologram-making to teach you how to cook.

Called a “cooking simulator,” the technology not only shows you how to actually move items around in the pan, but it gauges the heat on the pan and “calculates the heat transfer from the pan to the meat or vegetables that are being cooked, and displays the visible changes caused by heating.” Whaaat? It’s like a real flight simulator for cooking, in your actual kitchen.

According to the video, “the fry pan interface allows for three dimensional input, and as well as moving the fry pan to aid the cooking process, the simulator can feed back the weight of ingredients combined with the tactile feeling of the ingredients cooking.”
