In what has to be the greatest PR stunt since Taco Bell printed those fake ads touting a new taco bell in Bethel, Alaska, Oscar Mayer is giving comedian and actor Josh Sankey 3,000 pounds of bacon to use as currency while traveling through 12 cities.
The company is requiring Sankey to travel across 12 cities using only bacon as currency: no credit cards, debit cards, or cash. He will be driving from New York to Los Angeles and you can follow his travels here.
Josh had this to say about his mission:
“I need your help. I’m driving from NY to LA with no cash and no cards – just a trailer full of Butcher Thick Cut Bacon to barter with you for food, lodging and everything else I need. It’s all to find out if America loves this bacon as much as money!”
Oscer Mayer swears that the bacon is “worth its weight in gold.” No word yet on whether or not Ron Paul would support the bacon standard. Below is a really funny video of him trading bacon for a cab ride in New York. We wish you the best, Sankey, with all your bacon exploits.
