Google unveils the Bacon Number; figures out degrees to Kevin Bacon (really)

The game “six degrees of Kevin Bacon” is the number of people it takes to link anyone who has acted in any film to Kevin Bacon. Here, I’ll give you an example.

Go to Google. Type in “bacon number” and an actor’s name.

It’s a simple, dumb little thing that people have been using Google for for years that someone worked into an algorithm; the kind of dumb little flourish that actually makes Google look a lot more cool, friendly, and human than the scary private information behemoth it could be if it ever turned evil. So there’s that.

But the real surprise here is Kevin Bacon himself, who seems to be the lord of all that is Bacon Numerology.
