Last Thursday evening in Unterwössen, Germany, a hiker happened upon a naked monk in a delirious state. According to The Local, the monk refused help and wandered off.

Apparently the monk was tripping on berries from the known hallucinogenic plant Atropa belladonna, commonly known as Deadly Nightshade, which contains the chemicals atropine, scopolamine and hyoscyamine. German police eventually tracked the monk down and took him to the hospital for treatment.

Lesson: if you’re out foraging for berries, be sure you’re not eating Deadly Nightshade. And if you want to trip, go with something safer, like magic mushrooms.
