If this video is any indication, Chan Marshall aka Cat Power may have a second career coming up as a film director. She directed this new video for single and album opener “Cherokee” from her excellent new record “Sun,” and it’s a pretty impressive offering. It doesn’t have a complete narrative, per se, but it’s somewhere between “Blade Runner” and Robert Rodriguez, a futuristic zombie apocalypse set in the American west or the Australian outback. It’s highly cinematic and a lot of care was obviously put into crafting the shots. “Zombie apocalypse” isn’t exactly the first thing that would have come to mind personally as a treatment idea for this tune, but it’s pretty impressive.
