Ahoy! Yarr!

Ugh, I can’t do Talk Like a Pirate Day. Just knowing it exists kind of embarrasses me (yes, I’m that unfun). But if you can get into it, I totally support you, and more importantly so does Krispy Kreme, which is promising a free donut to anyone who comes to a store and talks like a pirate—and a dozen free donuts for anyone who comes dressed like one. So do it!

Here’s some light pirate lingo if you need to brush up:

“Ahoy!” means hello.

“Aye” means yes, yes you do want a donut.

“Yarr” means pretty much whatever you want it to. Same with “Arrrrgh.”

“Thar” means the same thing as “there.”

“Booty” means swag of any kind, in this case donuts.

“Be” is just a good word to stick in after the subject of any sentence, as in, “I be,” “You be” “It be,” etc.
