Good news for you rich folk: Forbes is now reporting that the net worth of the 400 richest Americans rose a full 13% over the last year to a combined $1.7 trillion.

Compare that to new data from the Census Bureau last week that showed that wealth of the top one-fifth of the rose by 1.6 percent, and that the total net worth of the middle class actually declined, with the median income falling about $750 to $50,054.

Basically, the lower down the economic ladder you are, the worse you’re doing. And the further up you go, the better you’re doing—it doesn’t go up linearly, it goes up exponentially
