The Irish duo I Am The Cosmos (Ross Turner and Cian Murphy) have released one perfect slice of pure ecstatic musical truth with the single “Lost Rhythm.” Out of a haze of beautiful noise emerges a house beat, new wave synth pads and a dense swirl of warm Eno-esque guitar drones.
Like Fuck Buttons’ monolithic track “Olympians,” I Am The Cosmos’s “Lost Rhythm” feels as though it could keep unfolding forever, and when it’s over one indeed hopes that it had. Solar Bears‘ Rian Trench helped Turner and Murphy mix the album. Apparently they are big fans of Lindstrom and New Order. One can hear the influence, but “Lost Rhythm” is undoubtedly its very own unique and beautiful sound.
