The late Bill Hicks was an American stand up comic who went from being an edgy yet average comedian to comedy demigod in just a few short years. He died of cancer at just 32, right at the start of the “legend” chapter of his career, leaving behind a body of work that is still being idolized and poured through even to this day by comics and philosophers alike. Hicks really was a legend before his time. “Ninja Bachelor Pad” is an extremely silly 30 minute short film made by Hicks and his friends Kevin Booth and David Johndrow. The rarely seen film was shot over the course of 10 years (nobody took it very seriously—you’ll see why) and on a tiny budget. Hicks ad-libs most of the voiceovers, making this otherwise screwball short into something of a rare gem for comedy lovers.
It ain’t Citizen Kane, but for Hicks fans this is golden.
