The Weeknd releases a classy new video for ‘Rolling Stone’

We’re used to thinking of Abel Tesfaye shrouded in smoke machine fog and dim lights, so the new video for “Rolling Stone” from his “Thursday” mixtape is pretty arresting. It throws Abel into stark relief in beautiful black-and-white, making direct, unflinching eye contact with us. It’s a little like Tyler, the Creator’s “Yonkers” video in that regard—except without the cockroach-eating and barfing, of course.

The Weeknd will package the three mixtapes he released last year as an album called “Trilogy,” which will include three new tracks. “Trilogy” is out November 26 on Universal Republic.
