Could this $20 bicycle change the world?

An Israeli researcher has developed a bicycle made out of lacquered cardboard that only costs the consumer $20. He speculates that this invention will make it much easier for people to get around in auto-congested cities and in third world nations where people have to travel great distances to get from place to place.

Izhar Gafni developed the waterproof and fireproof lacquer out of organic materials, too, and is to start production on the bike before the end of the year. Take a look at how he makes a bike below:

    not to rain on anyones parade here but I have no idea how this is a 20$ bike when the drivetrain alone [gates carbon belt drive] is a couple of hundred bucks alone. I applaud the engineering though.
