A few days ago a Facebook group called “Goldman Sachs 2012 campaign kick-off” launched. The satirical campaign takes aim at Goldman’s history of hedging on elections—that is, donating to both GOP and Democratic candidates to ensure elite access to the presidential and congressional offices.
The Facebook page links to the site goldmansachs2012.com where supporters can download a resource package (posters, stickers) and buy t-shirts with “Goldman Sachs 2012: Your Only Choice” emblazoned on them.
The current angst leveled at Goldman pales in comparison to the tenor of 2011, obscured by the entertainment fact of the presidential election. But there’s no doubt they are active in the Obama and Romney campaigns, operating from the shadows—their preferred method.
