Denny’s and the Shire already have a few things in common: For starters, their inhabitants both tend to be fans of second breakfasts. And elevenses. But Denny’s has found a way to take this penchant for mostly retirement-age eating habits and turn it into gold for the kids: Starting November 6, they’re launching a Hobbit menu to coincide with Peter Jackson’s upcoming movie.
In total there are 11 items on the Hobbit menu (which honestly sounds like way too few items for a Hobbit menu. There should probably be more like 11 pages of Hobbit food if they want to do this accurately.) And Denny’s seems to have eschewed the more traditional Hobbit fare like “Pork Pie,” “Seed Cake,” and “An Extra Cake or Two” and instead offered their own interpretation on Shire cuisine. Denny’s menu includes:
- Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies
- Gandalf’s Gobble Melt
- Bilbo’s Berry Smoothie
- Lonely Mountain Treasure
- Build Your Own Hobbit Slam
- Hobbit Harvest Pies
I’m not sure Bilbo would know what a “pancake puppy” is, but throw some Red Velvet in there and it’s hard to see you could go too wrong. “The Hobbit” is out December 14.
