Parquet Courts bring brilliant punk energy to ‘Borrowed Time’

As a fan of psychedelic and electronic music, I tend to de-emphasize my love of rock. Perhaps it’s because few bands do it well these days. Colourmusic stands out in my imagination as a band that rocks, but after them the pickins are slim. With “Borrowed Time” Parquet Courts manage to rock with a brilliant form of early UK punk with an American indie spirit. One will fine traces of Wire and Pavement amidst the band’s sound and energy. Refreshing as it is fun, Parquet Courts prove that uptempo, post-punk-inspired rock isn’t dead just yet.

Stream “Borrowed Time” below and the band’s LP “Light Up Gold” at Parquet Courts’ bandcamp page.
