Listen to Santigold’s new song for ‘Girls’

Dec 11, 2012

HBO will release a soundtrack from “Girls” Season 1 on January 8, just a couple days before the “Girls” Season 2 premiere. Yesterday they teased the release with a brand new addition that Santigold wrote for the show, presumably to appear in Season 2, aptly titled “Girls.”

The track is classic Santigold in the production (frenetic electro-pop) though a little light on melody—she almost sounds a bit like M.I.A. here.

Lena Dunham said “Girls’ music supervisor Manish Raval and I are crazy about everything from the pop that teen girls devour to the niche indie rock from days of yore,” and the compilation includes everything from Robyn and Icona Pop to Belle & Sebastian. It doesn’t include my favorite music queue from Season 1, however—The Troggs’ “With A Girl Like You.” Take a listen to that below.
