‘Back Door Santa’: revisiting Clarence Carter’s sexualized Christmas song
For the Echo Boom generation, Clarence Carter is that guy who recorded “Strokin’,” easily one of the all-time worst songs ever put to acetate. Well, there’s another Clarence Carter—the creative force behind “Back Door Santa,” a song so full of sexual innuendo that it’s simultaneously hilarious and dumb. And, in one particularly lyric, mildly pederastic.
Carter, embodying the fictional “Back Door Santa,” sings, “I make all the little girls happy while the boys are out to play.” Then we get the absolute gem, “I ain’t like Ol’ Saint Nick, he don’t come but once a year.”
Well, there isn’t too much more to say about the song. Have a listen.
