Here’s R. Kelly’s tribute song for the Newtown survivors
Usually when we’re posting about R. Kelly it’s to live-blog a new fur-clad, champagne-soaked video about ladies and disco dancing. But not today. Kells wrote and recorded a new tribute song for the Newtown survivors called “I Know You Are Hurting (Tribute To The Newton, Ct. Kids).”
As you might expect, it’s uplifting—a gospel-infused tune that lets kids know that even in the depths of their hurt “there’s a place you can go/ find the blue sky/ hear the choir sing/ feel the power of a miracle.” Cheesy? Yep. And pretty Jesus-y. But if you can listen to this song and think about those kids and not get a little choked up, you are one hard bastard.
