Bugs Bunny’s top 12 drag outfits

A master of disguise, Bugs Bunny has never shied away from wearing women’s clothing to best his rivals and save his life.

Throughout his 75 years on air, Bugs has transformed into everything from a southern belle to a mermaid to Little Red Riding Hood—each time momentarily stealing the heart of his rival, then usually giving himself away by turning around and exposing his tail.

Here are the highlights of Bugs Bunny’s drag career, starting with “Hare-um Scare-um,” the third Bugs Bunny cartoon ever to air in 1939.

1. “Hare-Um Scare-Um” (1939)

(4:00) Bugs pulls a female dog costume out of his satchel and zips it on, then uses the disguise to distract the hunting dog.

3. “A Corny Concerto” (1943)

4. “What’s Cookin’ Doc?” (1944)

5. “Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips” (1944)

(5:05) Bugs dresses up like a geisha in a purple kimono and pink fan to defeat a sumo wrestler with a mallet.

6. “Hare Conditioned” (1945)

(4:05) Bugs shows up in the shoe department as a lady customer in a stylish green dress and pink hat and lets the clerk tickle his feet.

7. “Hare Splitter” (1948)

(2:10) Bugs impersonates Daisy Lou to mess around with Casbah.

8. “Long-Haired Hare” (1949)

(4:25) Bugs dresses like a bobby-soxer in red lipstick and braided ears, and asks for an autograph with a dynamite pen.

9. “Rabbit Seasoning” (1952)

(4:49) Bugs dresses up as Lana Turner in a pencil skirt and tight sweater and Elmer Fudd falls for her instantly (as always).

10. “Hare Trimmed” (1953)

11. “Napoleon Bunny-part” (1956)
