Yoko Ono tweets image of John Lennon’s blood-stained glasses to speak out on gun control

With Obama’s new assault weapons ban already meeting opposition in the Senate, yesterday musician and artist Yoko Ono tweeted to her nearly 3.7 million followers several reminders of the shooting of her late husband John Lennon.

Along with Lennon’s bloodied glasses on a windowsill, the same ones used for the cover of her 1981 album “Season of Glass,” she tweeted some bleak stats about U.S. gun deaths:

And then…

Ono pleaded, “Together, let’s bring back America, the green land of peace.” She then wrote, “The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience, after 33 years our son Sean and I still miss him. Yoko Ono Lennon”.

Lennon was shot outside their apartment building on West 77th St by Mark David Chapman, who was using a Charter Arms .38 Special revolver.
