Play God with the weather in NYC’s new Rain Room
Have you ever wanted to control the weather? Sure you have. You totally want to control the rain and the sun and the moon and the stars because you want to play God because you have underlying issues relating to power and control just like the rest of us.
Well, in NYC’s new Rain Room, you can walk out into the room and have it STOP RAINING WHERE YOU’RE WALKING.
That is correct. It’s almost as if you’re living in a cool dreamworld where you control the weather, when in fact the 1000-square-foot room was designed by London design collective rAndom International. It opens May 12th at MoMa PS1 and closes July 28th, so get there quick. Visitors to the exhibit when it premiered in London were sometimes in line for up to 12 hours.
