Legendary country singer George Jones dead at 81
Country star George Jones died today at the age of 81.
George Jones might not have held the hipster cache or outlaw image of Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings, but he was an equally hard-livin’ musician. Known for a period as No-Show Jones due to his missing entire concerts due to drinking and drug binges, Jones pulled himself together enough to build his legacy from your average country hit maker to bonafide country music legend.
He was arrested for multiple DUIs, including one time on a lawn mower after his wife hid all their car keys. Here he is on an 80s talk show talking about his rampant cocaine use, his DUI arrest, weighing 108lbs during his drug days, and being a good-ol’ boy:
