Andrew Garfield shoots hoops in Spider-Man costume
One of the most ridiculous moments in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” a film riddled with ridiculousness, is when Peter Parker, played by soft-spoken heartthrob Andrew Garfield, gets in trouble for dunking too hard. Instead of being encouraged to pursue his athletic prowess, the backboard shattering high schooler gets suspended. It may have been something to spur progress in the plot, but, then again, that film had something like five half-baked plots that never resolved. So who knows. Apparently Spider-Man is still into basketball, as he took a break in filming to play around with a couple kids in Chinatown, Manhattan, this week in full costume. Unfortunately, he doesn’t go as hard in the paint as he did with Flash Thompson. But I’m crossing my fingers that the sequel involves twice as many super-power dunks and maybe a Blake Griffin cameo.
