Jun 18, 2013

Topshelf Records has been on a tear lately. With guitar-based music hitting a wall in 2012, few brands or bands have been able to push any more boundaries and EDM, hip hop, and other electronic forms of music have moved into place as the more innovative and interesting styles. But over at Topshelf, between The World Is A Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid To Die, Diamond Youth, and Weatherbox, the company is holding it down for some of the last ear-catching rock bands left.

Directed and edited by the brilliant Geoff Hoskinson, a sequence of nature scenes seems to possess unnatural and supernatural qualities. Intercut with stark minimal geometric scenes, this music video expresses a feeling of displacement and alternate realities / possibilities paired with a song about decaying rental property, LSD experiences, and the personification of a decades worth of punk show fliers. – Derrick Shanholtzer
