How to ride on a crowded subway car like a champ
About those hellified mornings and commuter hours when you’re crammed into New York City’s proverbial tin can of public transit without anything to cling onto, fret no more. Earlier this week, someone posted the above photo on a Japanese message board, showing an astute young woman’s technique of gripping onto a Tokyo subway car’s ceiling with a toilet plunger. Members of the online community Hamusoku were split in opinion over the woman’s travel accessory — from hyperbolic rants about a nation that should collectively slump in shame, to sweet praise for innovation.
As far as I’m concerned, anything that precludes jamming my fingertips into those germ-ridden ventilation panels above our heads for the sake of safety is a godsend.
