Icona Pop stream new single ‘All Night’
It’s strange to think Icona Pop is just getting ready to release their debut album. Having released one of the biggest songs of 2012 with “I Love It” they achieved total ubiquity with the tune in 2013. Now the pressure is on for them to deliver with a whole record.
The band announced Tuesday that “This Is…Icona Pop” will release 9/24, and streamed their new single “All Night.”
While there was something charmingly punk-rock rock about “I Love It” (Titus Andronicus recently covered it and called it “the quintessential punk song of 2013″) there’s no danger in “All Night.” A vague promise to keep the party going pairs with glossy production in a melange that sounds pretty interchangeable with other pop hitmakers—Miley, Carly, Britney, et al.
That said, it’s a catchy tune that should place Icona Pop solidly on the hitmaker list with their ‘ey peers. Titus Andronicus probably won’t be covering “All Night” anytime soon. But that was probably never the girls’ goal in the first place. Listen below.
