I’m bad at math, but take ownership for this inaccurate article: Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ surpasses 100m Spotify listens, makes only $9,000
Good news, everyone! Daft Punk have the most played song – “Get Lucky” – on popular song-listenin’ app Spotify with over 100m plays!
That’s giant news! That’s like the entire population of England listening to “Get Lucky” twice! Imagine that many people! That’s so many people you can barely even imagine it! Surely they must have made thousands of dollars after 100 million people listened to their hit song, right?
Daft Punk made $9,669.47, just short of $10,000 dollars.
So when one of the biggest bands in the world makes a landmark achievement, they’re still getting screwed. Hopefully DP will join the likes of Thom Yorke and Radiohead and leave the streaming music service altogether.
Correction: iTunes Match pays $0.00330526797710 per stream. Spotify actually pays us more, at $0.00966947678815 per stream.
