Friday the 13th Flight 666 to HEL goes off without a hitch
Kathryn Stockett, author of “The Help,” made news recently when she tweeted out the confirmation number for her flight: GONER5.
But superstitious passengers flying Finnair had it way worse on Friday, hitting a hat trick of dark omens: Flight #666, on Friday the 13th, to HEL.
“It has been quite a joke among the pilots,” said pilot Juha-Pekka Keidasto. “It’s hopefully smooth skies,” he added before the flight, risking a perilous jinx.
But the short flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki was nearly sold out. Passengers’ courage was rewarded with clear skies and a smooth flight—the plane landed safely in Helsinki in the afternoon.
Every Friday the 13th costs nearly $1 billion in lost business worldwide as superstitious customers avoid travel (and walking under ladders). But seriously, even for the non-superstitious among us, flying flight 666 to HEL on Friday the 13th is pretty hardcore.
