10 celebrities who believe in the supernatural
Ghost stories from famous people.
1. Helena Bonham Carter
The quirky British actress has a psychic buddy on-call for when her house needs a bit of de-ghosting. She also consulted said psychic on whether she should take the role of Elizabeth Taylor for the BBC “Burton and Taylor” biopic. Just to hedge her bets, Carter also employs her aunt as an astrologer.
3. Shirley MacLaine
In memoirs such as “Out on a Limb” and “Sage-ing While Age-ing,” Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacLaine speaks openly about her broad spectrum of mystical experiences. As it stands, MacLaine is a strong believer in reincarnation, having lived a previous life as an Egyptian princess, among others. She also claims to have had multiple encounters with UFOs, particularly around her ranch in New Mexico. Whether MacLaine is making contact with extraterrestrials or channeling spirits from another dimension, she apparently has left no facet of New Age philosophy unexplored.
4. Kate Moss
After enduring a sewage leak and a robbery, British model Kate Moss and her musician boyfriend Jamie Hince came to the logical conclusion that their new house was possessed by bad energy. Naturally, they did what anyone would do and allegedly hired a shaman to exorcise the evil spirits from the house.
5. Halle Berry
During the making of the Dorothy Dandridge biopic “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge,” Berry claims to have been on the receiving end of a particularly aggressive haunting by the late Dandridge. The ghost apparently upped her haunting game after Berry held on to one of Dandridge’s dresses after filming.
6. Carrie Fisher
After one of Fisher’s good friends, Republican lobbyist R. Gregory Stevens, overdosed while lying next to her in bed, the author/actress believed that her home was haunted by his ghost. She was never quite comfortable with this ghostly visitor and has hinted that the anxiety of sharing her home with a spirit helped contribute to her relapse. Eventually, her friends called in an exorcist to help her old friend move on to the next plane of existence.
7. Fran Drescher
Fran Drescher believes she and her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson were destined to be together because they were both abducted by UFOs when they were younger, implanted with a chip and even share matching scars from where the aliens inserted their tracking chips.
8. Phil Collins
The Genesis drummer and solo artist is another ardent believer in reincarnation after being convinced by a psychic that in a past life he was an American soldier who survived the Alamo. Apparently, that bit of knowledge has led to a full-blown obsession with that period in American history.
9. Joan Rivers
In the early ’90s, comedian Joan Rivers came to the conclusion that her New York City apartment was haunted. So, she did what anyone would do and hired a voodoo priestess to cleanse the unwanted spirits out of her home. Apparently, this haunting was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the priestess and Rivers. Go figure.
10. Dan Aykroyd
Although the comic actor is probably best known for his roles on “Saturday Night Live” and in “Ghostbusters,” his body of work might soon be overshadowed by his activism regarding potentially harmful alien visitors. He’s a member and consultant for the Mutual UFO Network, a non-profit dedicated to investigating UFO sightings. Aykroyd also produced and starred in an 80-minute interview DVD where he explores all facets of his beliefs and concerns regarding extraterrestrials. In addition to this, he’s also a believer in ghosts and spirits.
