New York-based guitar-tapping wizard Marnie Stern announced that she will release her self-titled follow up to the longwinded yet breathtaking This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That The album marks a temporal and sonic shift for Stern. In a press release she said, “I wanted to pay more attention to the delicate and subtly layered spaces in between sound and just make things louder and fuller where I didn’t on my last 2 records. I’m no longer taking cover under guitar lines or yelping vocals.”
Stern stopped by Death+Taxes last year and shredded for us in the office. It was neither subtle nor delicate. It was awesome. Keep reading to watch and download the first track from her new record.
In addition to working with long time collaborator Zach Hill, Stern brings aboard Women bassist Matthew Flegel and mixer Lars Stalfors who has worked with The Mars Volta and Funeral Party.
