It sure has been an interesting week for Kanye West.
First he performed new material live at Facebook to much fanfare, and then Mr. West up and joined Twitter. (In less than 24 hours he accumulated over 200,000 followers, and his first tweet was accidentally about boobs.)
Now, we have learned that the esteemed MC put on an intimate show at the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco—that is definitely playing both sides of the social media battlefield. Once again he performs a capella but we notice that there is an upright piano in the room. Come on, Twitter! A whole room of tech geeks and not one of you can play the goddamn piano?
Once again he shows why, for the first time in a few years, we’re excited to see ‘Ye perform live again. West throws down some interesting rhymes. He raps, “My first watch was a Fossil/Now I’m in the Louvre/looking for fossils.” Yes, that one was pretty good but he plays with fire later, calling himself a mix between “Fergie and Jesus.” Just ask Paul McCartney what happens when you compare yourself to Jesus. Next thing you know, Tea Partiers will be standing around burning his records.
The recent barrage reinstates West’s marketing savvy. Despite his failings (His ego, Taylor Swift, an entire album of Auto-Tune), Kanye is talent that refuses to fade away. Kanye’s now untitled album is due out 9/14 via Roc-a-fella Records.
