Animal Collective’s Avey Tare To Release Solo Album

Animal Collective member will release “Down There” on October 28

It looks like Panda Bear has started a trend. Brooklyn-based psycher and member of Animal Collective Avey Tare (David Portner) has announced that he too will be releasing a solo album this fall. “Down There,” recorded in June by fellow Animal Deakin (Josh Dibb), is Avey Tare’s first solo outing. Apparently, the album was influenced by crocodiles—no, not the band, the animal. They are his favorite animal along with the otter. Yes, the press release said that.

The release continues, “Wait for sundown and turn it up loud. Take a ride on this haunted boat and let yourself be guided through deep sloshy rhythms, waterlogged bass, and moonlit breaks in the canopy that reveal a crisp crystalline pop buzz.” Each album comes packaged with two caps of psilocybin mushrooms (or should, at least).

Looks like the Collective is spawning more than one splinter cell this year, with Panda Bear’s “Tomboy” being release sometime in the fall as well.

Avey Tare’s “Down There” is set for release on October 26.

2. 3 Umbrellas
