Comedian and talk-show host releases spoken-word single through Jack White’s Third Man Records
Conan O’Brien is having a pretty great few months. Sure, he lost his show with NBC but then he went on a sold-out tour and picked up an entirely new show. And now he gets to work with Jack White. Today, the comedian and soon-to-be TBS host revealed his first spoken-word single, “And They Call Me Mad?” through White’s Third Man Records.
On the single, O’Brien plays a sort of yuppie, latte-drinking Dr. Frankenstein whose directing his creation, Benjamin, to scare pitchfork-wielding villagers. It’s awkward funny — O’Brien’s specialty. The 7″ will be released tomorrow and Side 2 will feature an interview between White and O’Brien who collaborated earlier this summer. According to Pitchfork, a regular and a tri-color edition of the 7″ will be made available. Third Man‘s Nashville store will sell 100 copies of the tri-colored 7″ for $100 tomorrow with procedes benefiting uninsured musicians.
Head on over to Pitchfork for a listen. Also, check out the video of White and O’Brien on stage together at Third Man’s Nashville store in June
