Will Forte announced today that he’s leaving SNL.
“When you put the wig on and the clothes for some reason you just feel a little different,” SNL staple Will Forte told D+T last spring. “I’m a mustache away from being a very realistic looking sex offender.” SNL is going to have to find itself a new realistic looking sex offender.
After eight successful seasons, a hugely hilarious (if hugely unprofitable) “MacGruber” feature film, and one of the best Twitter feeds of the year, Will Forte announced today that he’ll be leaving SNL.
Forte announced that he’s leaving to pursue “other opportunities,” but hasn’t indicated yet exactly where he’s heading. But regardless of how little money MacGruber made, it convinced us that Forte has the comedic chops to be a leading man in any size project.
Just this week D+T had SNL’s Jenny Slate into the office for a hilarious photo shoot and interview—Slate has referenced this skit with Will Forte and Peyton Manning as one of her all-time SNL favorites.
Below, a look back at one of our favorite of Forte’s SNL characters. Anybody feeling a Falconer feature for 2011?
