We haven’t completely fallen head-over-heels for the Arcade Fire‘s “The Suburbs,” but this interactive video for “We Used To Wait” from Chris Milk and the good people at Google sure helps.
Programed and designed in HTML5 (it’s the future, folks) and run through Google Chrome, the video, if you can even call it that, is something of an artistic feat. All you need is your childhood home address to participate in this “Wilderness Machine.” Enter that address, and the program uses Google Maps to bring your street to life in multiple browser pages.
It’s got animated birds, a mysterious child, tripped-out interactivity and one hell of a nostalgia throwback. What more would you want from what could be called one of the best music videos ever? But don’t bet on this one winning a VMA anytime soon—it’s probably a bit too highbrow for MTV’s liking.
