Rose McGowan gets naked and bloody in debut music video ‘RM486′ [NSFW]

Since quitting acting Rose McGowan has become a bit of a Renaissance woman, adding directing and internet feminism to her list of pursuits. Now the fast talking bombshell has branched out into music with a song and video called “RM486″ that debuted Monday on Nowness.

Directed by Swedish giant Jonas Åkerlund (whose credits also include Madonna’s “Ray of Light” and Lady Gaga’s “Telephone”), the clip shows McGowan reclaiming her famous body by getting naked but not “sexy” in any traditional sense of the word. She plays an alien creature covered in white goo, a bloody, Gothic lady recalling her Marilyn Manson days, and a variety of other fashionably bizarre characters that are more than a little Gaga-esque. Towards the end, she cries a single tear. I guess it doesn’t count as “acting” if you’re doing it in your own music video?

Unfortunately, the video also evokes Lady Gaga in that the music is not half as interesting as the visuals, but its combo of piano balladry and house beats might just make it into some clubs anyway. On the question of why she’s making music now, McGowan tells Nowness:

In the last few years I’ve actually released some songs under different names, just me pranking the public. I woke up one day and realised I hated acting and that I’d always hated it. Imagine, its predominantly men whose scripts get done so it was mostly a male voice coming out of my mouth for fifteen years.
