Smash Mouth honors David Bowie with nightmarish ‘Under Pressure’ cover

On Monday, it seemed like the worst possible tribute to David Bowie came from the supercool shoe brand Crocs. That was shortsighted. The awful David Bowie tributes have only begun. The latest abomination comes from Smash Mouth, the Guy Fieri of music.

The band released an All Star cover of Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure,” with the hashtag “#ripBowie.” It’s as bad as you’d expect. What a concept!

It’s not just awful, but kind of a bizarre choice. Not to be a huge music nerd about it, but “Under Pressure” was mostly a Freddie Mercury/Queen song, with Bowie contributing lyrics and backing vocals. But whatever! After all, they really ain’t the sharpest tools in the shed.
