Both Steven Colbert and Jon Stewart will descend upon the National Mall in Washington D.C. for their own separately announced rallies on October 30th. Have you bought your ticket yet?
It’s time for America to stop taking itself so seriously. The political climate, paired with media fear-mongering courtesy of of Glenn Beck et al, are giving me ulcers.
Stewart and Colbert have announced their rallies in Washington D.C. at the end of October, and they will give you a shoulder to laugh on in these troubled and super-serious times.
Glenn Beck and his “Restoring Honor” rally at the end of August on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial was surely the impetus behind next month’s double feature. Beck had some classic one-liners promoting his event which Stewart eviscerated—my personal favorite being, “Black people don’t own Martin Luther King.”
In the wake of Beck’s event, a Facebook fan page sprang up calling for Stephen Colbert to hold a rally in response. The movement suggested Colbert’s rally be called “Restoring Truthiness.” Cobert has answered the call, but has decided to call his rally “Keep Fear Alive for America.” The Jon Stewart rally is called “Take It Down a Notch for America.”
October 30 will go down in history. Do you want to be part of it? Make travel arrangements soon and heed Colbert’s warning:
“people should book their hotel rooms now or their children might turn gay”
Remember: Now is the time for all good men to freak out for freedom.
