Trump ex-wife on immigration: ‘Who’s going to vacuum our living rooms and clean up after us?’

While Donald Trump has spent the weekend mouthing off about his waffling position on abortion and threatening to run as a third-party candidate, one of his ex-wives shared her support of the GOP frontrunner’s ideas on immigration.

Ivana Trump, the 67-year-old former model who was married to The Donald for 15 years (1977 to 1992), invited a New York Post reporter to her Upper East Side town house and discussed her views on how immigration is both an economic burden and a necessary evil. “I have nothing against Mexicans,” Ivana told the Post, “but if they [come] here — like this 19-year-old, she’s pregnant, she crossed over a wall that’s this high — she gives the birth in American hospital, which is for free. The child becomes American automatically. She brings the whole family, she doesn’t pay the taxes, she doesn’t have a job, she gets the housing, she gets the food stamps. Who’s paying? You and me.”

Actually [pushes up glasses], it’s not clear if the Trump family is paying those taxes given that the candidate’s real estate empire owes a minimum $270 million to creditors, but nice try. “As long as you come here legally and get a proper job,” Ivana clarified. “We need immigrants. Who’s going to vacuum our living rooms and clean up after us? Americans don’t like to do that.”

Ivana also touched on her ex-husband’s decisiveness (“He’s a businessman!”) and ability to recruit “fantastic advisers,” though her comments haven’t always reflected positively in the press. A 1990 Vanity Fair story reported on her recollection of her husband’s nighttime reading (“a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, ‘My New Order,’ which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed”) and, in 1993, her divorce deposition, which included a violent sexual assault, surfaced in Harry Hurt’s book “Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump.”

The former Newsweek reporter recounted a scene at their home in 1989, after Trump was enraged over a painful scalp reduction surgery to reduce his baldness. “Your fucking doctor has ruined me!” Trump cried. Then, according to Ivana’s deposition obtained by Hurt, she endured a “violent assault,” which included her husband pulling clumps of hair from her scalp and tearing off her clothes.

At this point in their marriage, Trump had not had sex with Ivana for 16 months, despite Ivana having gone under the knife for breast enhancement. “I can’t stand to touch those plastic breasts!” he once said. The rest of the “violent assault” is detailed in “Lost Tycoon”:

Then he jams his penis inside her for the first time in more than sixteen months. Ivana is terrified … According to versions she repeats to some of her closest confidantes, “he raped me.”

Following the incident, Ivana ran upstairs, hid behind a locked door, and remained there “crying for the rest of night.” When she returned to the master bedroom in the morning, he was there.

As she looks in horror at the ripped-out hair scattered all over the bed, he glares at her and asks with menacing casualness: “Does it hurt?”

Trump has since denied the assault allegation, as well as the scalp reduction surgery.

In other news, a recent CNN poll has found that 73 percent of women have unfavorable feelings toward Trump. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll similarly showed a 70 percent unfavorable rating among women. Washington Post/ABC News has it at 75 percent. Sad.
