He’s a staunchly idealistic religious figure and he’s being accused of living the exact same lifestyle that he’s preached against. Yup, another one.
Bishop Eddie Long is a senior pastor at a mega-church with over 25,000 congregation members in Georgia. He’s been called “…the most virulently homophobic black leader in the religiously based anti-gay movement” and he’s recently been accused of sexually coercing two young members of his congregation.
And guess what? They’re dudes. No big surprise there. After a decade of the Catholic Church sexcapades, the hypocrisies of modern organized religion have joined the ranks with holy communion and Easter as recognizable facets of the faith.
It must be a crushing feeling when your messiah totally fucks you over and abandons you in the middle of the desert. But Long is one of many bobble-head-worthy figures equally as famous for their false righteousness as their hypocrisy.
In 2006 the self-righteous evangelical preacher Ted Haggard was famously found to have not only had affairs with men but to have used crystal meth. He claims to have since “rehabilitated” himself (of homosexuality, not drug use, mind you) and started his very own church earlier this year.
Long recently told CNN: “I don’t believe in the gay lifestyle. I don’t believe it’s God’s way.” And the drama of the double standard continues…

Eddie Long has always been a hateful heinous man. I've never forgiven Coretta Scott Kings homophobic daughter and niece forcing the rest of the family to have Mrs. King's service at Long's church. Those who quack loudest are usually trying to cover some other noise they're making. And people who dismiss this are living in a fools paradise. Eddie is a classic closeted self loather. He's supposed to be teaching love not hate of all

And Kim. If he is guilty of using his power to manipulate these young men, it isn't god that's going to see to him. His church needs to kick his ass out and rethink their hate of gay people and following false prophets. Eddie needs to accept who he is, get rid of the Bentley and go work in a half way house for gay teens who have been kicked out of their homes because of their sexuality. I would call that god's work.
