When you think of talk shows, what stereotypes come to mind? Maybe you think of the big desks, or the chintzy backing bands, or the tacky affairs with office underlings.

Jake Sasseville, the host of the guerrilla talk show “Late Night Republic,” is looking to change that. He embarks in the coming weeks on a college tour for charity. For each school visited, one school will be built in southeast Asia. Here’s hoping the desks will be normal sizes.
