George H.W. Bush isn’t taking any of this kid’s shit about broccoli
Former president George H.W. Bush hates broccoli. Absolutely despises the stuff. He cares so little for the vegetable, he had the following to say when asked whether or not he actually banned it from Air Force One in 1990:
I do not like broccoli, and I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States, and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli!
Despite sounding like a 9-year-old pretending to be president, this statement was made when Bush was 65, and the New York Times wrote a whole thing about it. The point is, Mr. Bush’s dislike of broccoli is well-known. That’s where 5-year-old Cooper comes in. Thanks to his grandmother, Cooper recently became familiar with this particular quirk of the former president, so he wrote the 92-year-old a very nice letter. Bush took to Twitter to, in the nicest way possible, say “fuck that shit.”
Proud of young Cooper's interest in healthy eating. His declared love of broccoli is genuine, if also unpersuasive. pic.twitter.com/r5wHKvigDb

Eat it, Cooper! Bush doesn’t give a damn about you or your stupid broccoli. Also, what kind of meat? Be specific. It’s weird otherwise.
It’s admirable that young Cooper here is concerned about the eating habits of Bush, which are notoriously awful. Here’s the thing, though. Dude is 92. At this point telling him that he should eat healthier is like telling Keith Richards drugs and smoking are bad. He’s already exceeded all possible expectations of longevity. Why change now?
