Curb-Larry-David_lLast night HBO aired the season finale to Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which the much-hyped Seinfeld reunion finally premiered. This season started off forced (season premier "Funkouser's Crazy Sister" was a doozy) but gained momentum shortly there after, barring the exaggerated use of the word "pussy" in "The Table Read." I'm not a prude--ok maybe a bit. "The Bare Midriff" and "Black Swam" mark personal highlights (and not just for enraging the Christian right with "Midriff"). Without revealing spoilers, I will say that the last episode entitled "Seinfeld" was the absolute best episode of the season, if not series. All the different plot lines (the watermark on Julia Louis-Dreyfus's antique, Larry's pining for Cheryl, Jason Alexander's book, Mocha Joe!, etc.) were succinctly interlaced and came together rather ingeniously at the end. So perfectly, in fact, I'd be surprised if Larry David revealed plans for another season. Yup, that's the rub. But like all great things (i.e. UK's The Office

Last Night's Curb Your Enthusiasm

Curb-Larry-David_lLast night HBO aired the season finale to Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which the much-hyped Seinfeld reunion finally premiered. This season started off forced (season premier “Funkouser’s Crazy Sister” was a doozy) but gained momentum shortly there after, barring the exaggerated use of the word “pussy” in “The Table Read.” I’m not a prude–ok maybe a bit. “The Bare Midriff” and “Black Swam” mark personal highlights (and not just for enraging the Christian right with “Midriff”). Without revealing spoilers, I will say that the last episode entitled “Seinfeld” was the absolute best episode of the season, if not series. All the different plot lines (the watermark on Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s antique, Larry’s pining for Cheryl, Jason Alexander’s book, Mocha Joe!, etc.) were succinctly interlaced and came together rather ingeniously at the end. So perfectly, in fact, I’d be surprised if Larry David revealed plans for another season. Yup, that’s the rub. But like all great things (i.e. UK’s The Office), sometimes less is more.
