T.I. Talks Suicide Jumper To Safety

Wednesday afternoon T.I. (Clifford Joseph Harris) aided police negotiators in trying to talk a man out of jumping to his death from a 22-story building in midtown Atlanta.

T.I. told WSB radio that he was on the way to a video shoot when he heard about the incident. He quickly drove to the scene and told a police officer he wanted to help. The officers did not want to take T.I. to the roof so they shot a quick video message which was then sent to the man on the roof. When the man saw the message he agreed to come down and talk to the rapper.

“Something in me just said, ‘man you gotta try and help. You gotta do whatever you can,’ ” T.I. told WSB radio.

According to E online, T.I. told the man ,”Nothing is that bad. Believe me, I know.”

The man, whose name is not being released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and will not be charged with a crime.

The Grammy award winning rapper is scheduled to appear in court on Friday for an arrest last month in Los Angeles while on probation.

When asked about his intentions T.I. told reporters, “For one, I’m not taking any credit. I didn’t do it…I could’ve just as well came down there and it could have been resolved in another way. The fact of the matter is that God put me in a position to help, and I can’t take any credit for that.”

Nonetheless, T.I.’s deft actions saved a life—a courageous act from a complete stranger. Hopefully, God will put T.I. in a position not to spend any more time in the clink.
