Fresh off the release of “Halcyon Digest,” the Atlanta quartet played to a packed audience at Webster Hall.
Bradford Cox has often described his band’s sound as “ambient punk,” a clever, and less annoying, term that could be used to define many current “chillwave” acts. While the tag of “ambient punk” hasn’t quite caught on, I can’t think of a better way to describe the duality of Deerhunter’s live show. Throughout the night at the New York City club, the group had the crowd entranced, as they swayed from droning, hyptonic tunes like new single “Helicopter” to the energized noise-rock of “Nothing Ever Happened.” Check out loads of pictures from the show below.
