Israeli intelligence officials shouted at U.S. colleagues after Trump’s leak
Donald Trump plans to visit Israel on Monday, which could get a little awkward after President Dumbfuck blabbed classified intelligence to Russian officials that might cost an Israeli spy their life. As previously reported, Israeli intelligence officials responded poorly to the news, calling it “our worst fears confirmed.” Israel did not hide its disdain to U.S. officials. According to Foreign Policy, Israeli intelligence officials deployed a classic Trump managerial tactic, shouting at them in meetings.
“To them, it’s horrifying,” said an official who attended the meetings. “Their first question was: What is going on? What is this?”
The spy Trump endangered reportedly uncovered an ISIS plot to attack a U.S.-bound flight with an explosive embedded in a laptop. Trump revealed to Russia both the advancements in bomb-making technology as well as the city where the plan is being hatched. Making things worse, the Israeli spy shared this information as a favor.
From Foreign Policy:
The details Trump spilled likely came from a source that was also useful on Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and its Hezbollah proxies in Syria and Lebanon, which are much higher priorities for Israel, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
“To the Israelis, ISIS is not that big of a concern,” the defense official said. “We have a partner that has done us a favor. They went out of their way to support us in a campaign against ISIS, that they have no real skin in.”
After Trump’s giant mouth was made public, several former Israeli intelligence chiefs condemned the White House and questioned the wisdom of working with Washington in the future.
“If tomorrow I were asked to pass information to the CIA, I would do everything I could to not pass it to them,” Shabtai Shavit, who led the Israeli spy agency Mossad in the 1990s, told The Times of Israel. “Or I would first protect myself and only then give it, and what I’d give would be totally neutered.”
Danny Yatom, who ran Mossad after Shavit, went one step further: “We need to punish the Americans, it’s possible, so that we don’t put Trump in a position where he is again tempted. We need to abstain from transferring information to him, or to only give him partial information so that he can’t endanger any source.”
Sounds like Israel won’t be rolling out the red carpet for POTUS next week. But hey, at least they’re not forcing him to exercise.
