Senator Murkowski doesn’t look stoked about Trump’s crappy healthcare pitch

Thirteen lucky Republican senators were invited to break bread with the president on Tuesday to discuss dismantling the ACA in favor of the immensely unpopular bill the GOP is trying to cram through the Senate in secret.

Among the lunch guests were moderate Republican senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who are both considered to be hard sells for the bill GOP leadership is trying to rush to a Senate vote.

As you can see from the video, Murkowski’s is leaning as far away from Trump as possible without tipping over into the next seat. Her eyes are completely blank as Trump reminisces on how he planned his campaign announcement for June 16, two days after his birthday. It’s almost as if Murkowski had mentally left the room.

While Trump lists off what he believes are his administration’s accomplishments, Murkowski continues staring off into the distance. Notice how she noticeably avoids the president’s eye contact when he concludes his spiel by turning towards her and thanking her for being there. It’s like if she looks him in the eyes, she’ll turn into a pile of spiders.

There’s a reason Murkowski isn’t warming to Trump’s push for his shitty bill — the Medicaid expansion plan under the ACA has benefitted a large portion of her constituents. The AHCA bill proposed by the GOP would determinedly phase that expansion out.
